THERAPY SERVICES

Stone Oak Therapy Services is structured to help each child reach his or her potential through carefully designed programs.  Our unique comprehensive intake process ensures every member of the clinical team contributes to every child’s program.

ALL of our chief therapists hold Master's degrees in their clinical area and are expected to exceed their annual requirement of seminars, conferences, and other educational sources to keep informed of the latest advances in their field.

Speech Language Pathology

Our clinical specialists in this area address pre-language skills, oral motor skills, feeding & swallowing, articulation, language (including receptive and expressive), pragmatics, and cognition.

Occupational Therapy

These therapy experts address needs that include fine & gross motor, eye-hand coordination, visual perception, motor planning, and sensory-processing tasks designed to improve overall performance and independence.

Physical Therapy

These clinicians are trained to help children develop and improve flexibility, strength, balance and coordination.  Gross motor skills are also targeted to help kids reach their developmental milestones.

Behavioral Therapy

We currently utilize two highly qualified therapists for our behavioral therapy program:

Lupe Castaneda worked with children and youth with autism and other developmental disabilities for the Arlington ISD in Arlington, Texas during last 14 years.  He  earned a Master's degree in Adapted Physical Education from Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX in 1997.  He then completed almost 30 hours of graduate course work in the Behavior Analysis department at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX.  In addition to the formal training in behavior analysis and autism intervention, Mr. Castaneda has completed over 350 clock hours of workshop training in the areas of applied behavior analysis, ABLLS (Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills), social skills training, Social Stories, structured teaching, visual strategies, functional behavior assessment/analysis, developing behavior intervention plans, and Autism/Asperger's characteristics.  Mr. Castaneda earned his certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analayst (BCBA) in December 2002 and is currently 1 of 2 master's level behavior analysts in San Antonio and South Texas.  He also holds a Texas state teaching certification in Special Education (1992).

Angie VonTalge has worked with children with Autism & other developmental disabilities for the past 3 years.  She earned her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Central Florida in 2004.  While working on her Masters degrees she completed course work to obtain certification of become a board certified behavior analyst.  She received her certification in December 2004.  Ms. VonTalge also has attended continuing education in the areas of Applied Behavior Analysis, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Verbal Behavior, behavioral feeding issues, and ABLLS-R (Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills-revised).  She previously worked in a hospital based setting for infant feeding difficulties and has worked closely with lactation consultants for 2 years. In addition she has experience with clinic based and home based language intervention programs.
